JAPANESE SHINTO WEDDING - DAVE & KAORU

We had a wedding in the U.S. first in 1995. It was a simple, but very heart warming ceremony and reception with Dave's family and friends. Since my family couldn't attend the first one, my parents planned a traditional Shinto wedding in Japan. So, we had 2 weddings!
Our shinto wedding ceremony was held at Haruna Shrine with its long history in my hometown at a very traditional manner. There are two priests, one is an honor priest of the shinto association. We had live music, traditional Gagaku music played with historical music instruments. You may not find those music instruments around except museums or historical shrines.
Some of our family members join this trip from America to attend the wedding. They experienced a totally "different" wedding over there! We would like to share the Japanese wedding on this page with you. These days, Japanese weddings are getting more simple and usually held at a hotel. (Big hotel has its own small shrine inside for wedding, like Las Vegas hotels.) You may not have a chance to see such a traditional wedding anymore.
After the ceremony, we had a reception. We combine Japanese and American styles for the party. I wore 2 kimono (white gown and bright color gown) and a dress. Dave also wore a kimono and tuxedos.

8 of Vescio family went to Japan for attending at the wedding. Before going into the shrine.
Look! Dave is wearing a formal men's kimono! White Kimono for ceremony and Shiny bright color kimono for reception.
