Angel Homestay Profile

Donna and Kaoru started Angel Homestay in 1996 to provide quality homestay for Japanese tourists.

Our programs are very unique and suitable for individual tourists and small groups. We don't have a giant company between the applicants and us. We can provide service directly to the guests. (Usually, Japanese companies recruit applicants through mas-media. They take their comission and request the homestay arrangement to an American company. Then American company recruit host families and take their comission and pay to the coordinators. There are too many vendors between the applicants and host families.)

We can reduce the risk of mis-communication between the applicants and homestay company and make the most suitable plans for each one. We answers all questions that applicants have before they arrive. Also, we provide orientation to the host families. We can uderstand both sides' benefits (homestay guests and host families). We hope host families can enjoy our program as much as our guests do. It's a great opportunity for your family to experience cultural exchange.

We arrange and provides sightseeing tours and fun activities for the guests. Host families are welcome to participate in many of those activities.

Donna has a lot of experience hosting Japanese homestay guests. Kaoru is experienced in organizing Homestay programs, being a homestay guests herself and counseling to the homestay guests.

We have the both sides experts, "Host Family" and "Homestay Guest".

Profile - Angel Homestay Coordinators

Donna, Coordinator
My first homestay guest was a 16 year old girl from Okayama City, Japan. She was here for 3 weeks to learn about our culture. She was amazed on a daily basis! She could not stop wondering where the food went after I used the garbage disposal! In turn, I learned a lot about life in Japan. The hardest thing I learned is saying good bye, there are tears for everyone. Since then I have hosted 24 Japanese guests between the ages of 13 to 29! Many of them have returned several times. Two young ladies, Naoko & Akemi, have been to my house 9 times! They are hooked! I am hooked! I love getting their letters and post cards!I want to share this incredible experience with other families. I met Kaoru when she was on a date with my brother, Dave. We started our own homestay business and since then have coordinated homestays for many individuals and groups. I have taught English classes to Japanese high school students. Angel Homestay has a small but growing list of families who have opened their hearts and homes to these enthusiastic, sincere, and, friendly travelers!
Kaoru, Coordinator
I have experienced various homestay programs all over the United States since I was 16 years old. I was fascinated by the homestay. I have stayed with more than 14 host families in over 6 states, including California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Kansas. I even did homestay in American Military base in Okinawa! (Click here to read Kaoru's Homestay Memories) After graduating from college, I became a study abroad counselor and helped students to apply for schools abroad and arrange homestay programs through agents in other countries. I am experienced in escorting a group of high school students from Japan. I am married to Donna's brother and lives in S. California as a permanent resident. I believe that Homestay is the best way to experience the different culture and understand people with different background. I can assist the guests in many ways and I coordinate the Angel Homestay Programs with Donna, my sister-in-law. I would like to share this wonderful homestay experience with many other Japanese people and help American host families to understand and enjoy the program also.

With Santa! Welcome Picnik for Summer Group.

Farewell Party Emi & Donna.
